Black sparkle basecoat
I'm looking for something that does not have a "grayish" look, like black pearl does. I need something dark, and "sparkley", that looks more like a very fine black 'flake.
Here is a picture of a job I did long ago.....but can't remember what I used for it. I just know it wasn't 'flake.

Have you looked into Ice Crystal Pearls ?
I think its a pigmented glass flake .
PPG I think uses some exotic type of flake / pearl in their Vibrance line you might look into also .
-
Thanks, I'll check it out.

HRP in the mid 80's Honda had a Black metallic on their prelude real clean black and small metallics . Was a clear coat from the factory also .

Thanks. I'll check it out.

best pics I have.... I will look for more

Thanks, guys. I liked the "meta" flake course sparkle, but the customer wants more "twinkle" so I went with the black flake from X-otic, over HOK black base.
-
Well HRP if ya got it sprayed yet post a pic plz.

Forget black with black flake. No sparkle! Looks like black with slightly darker specks!
I need to see what the owner wants to do, then I'm either going with the HOK metajewels (course) "Black Diamond", or straight black.

We just shot a beautiful black metallic Acura last week, when I get back to the shop I'll pull the RO and see what the codes were. Plenty of different flake material, large, small, round, square, most however are in a liquid form these days with a base that looks almost silver in color until you mix it into the paint......Again I'll look up what we used and give you the mix codes so you can cross reference it from what I use (Sherwin Williams) to whatever paint supplier you use.

The thing we have been trying to avoid is to have to much of a grayish look. He just wants black and bright sparkles.....no other color.
