Is there something im missing here? I am painting a friends car and she decided to go with gun metal metalic. When i mixed the paint with the fancy mixing paddle on my drill it seemed like it did not want to mix, it just got kinda swirly never one consistant color, is this normal?

After i sarted spraying it did not spray on smooth, it sprayed really weird patterns. I sprayed a few coats in test spots to see if that helps, and it started looking good in those spots, so im wondering if you just have to keep coating with this stuff to get it to look good. Plus i just barrowed my buddies sata gun to see if my cheapy is also a problem.
