    Question Carby coating?????

     



    l've got 3x2barrel Holley carbies(new) for my motor, because l'm not running a bonnet(HOOD),i wanted to prevent that "shitty" discolouration caused by the weather....Can i powder coat , ceramic coat, or even anadize them,l was after a durable coating that will not only look good ,but last.......

    no matter what you coat them with , they have to be taken totally apart. I would anodize them. It is the thinnest of all coatings and comes in lots of colors. Wherever you get then done at, I would want to see something they did already. Go to some shows and ask around, probably get pointed to the right place by someone who has done this already.

    Probably some rattle can clear epoxy would work. Don't know if you have Krylon in your part of the world, but it seems to work very nicely on every thing I've used it on. There should be something similar. Or - you could paint those carbs the engine color. So far my car is hoodless and my kinda polished Edelbrock Performer has a gummy film on it already

    I was just at the book store with my wife and picked up the latest Hot Rod Mag. and there was an article about Holley rebuilding carbs at "a reasonable" price in Kentucky. One of the examples was an anodized and yellow zinc chromate finish. Looked good as new.

    The OP is in Australia and has new carbs he wants to protect - and that service by Holley - cheap - it isn't

    Hmmmmmm - just pondering this very topic as I sure would love to paint that Autloite 4100 I have - already rebuilt and installed. Might have to think about pulling it and painting it......might have to look at it tomorrow with that thought and see if doable w/o having to disassemble too much......

    Eastwood sells fuel resistant carburetor paint that comes in silver or gold.

    I used the silver and it seems to hold very well.
