Your opinion.Colors that change

I am going to have the conversion top on Ole Yellar painted while it is off the van.Seems that makes sense.

It is going to be white of some fashion or other.That is a heat reflector.

One color under consideration is the new Caddy white that does somewhat change color in the sun light.The thing I am asking for a opinion about is colors that change.First thought I have it takes away from the identity of a vehicle not being a constant solid color.The bottom part of the van is going to be a base color of Case equipment shade yellow.I haven't worked out the graphics or designs yet.Yes even the top is very important to me.It is the representative of the business I own and I want it to draw attention to it because of that.

So what is your opinion of colors that change in the sun light??.

The Cadillac color you speak of is not quite a real white, but a color called "White Diamond", Color Code: WA800J. This is a tri stage paint, a ground coat of color, followed by a mid coat of pearl, followed with a clearcoat over the top of it all. Not cheap by any means.

Bill, aren't the tri-colors very difficult to impossible to spot repair, too? Seems I heard they are full panel repaint, and even then panel to panel may not look exactly the same in different lights. Maybe that's just the iridescents?

Just me, I don't really like the colors that change, but I am very conservative, and do not like change.

The top's estimate with a four drilled hole repair where a previous idiot owner mounted a bell to be a ice cream van is $1,000 plus or minus $200.I understand the two tints are either a brownest or bluest color.I would chose the bluest color.

If you are really good at it yes, it can be done. A backyard painter is best left to other colors choices.

When I would think there is a easy $300 in paint.The $1,000 didn't sound like a bad price which includes the repair.This is a paint shop that came highly recommended and not a back yard shop.

I still can't make up my mind if colors that change in sun light is a asset or deportment.

I deal with these choices every day, as I try to satify customers. Sometimes that even means having to come up with a design that satifies more than one family member!

Like many things... it really comes down to your own personal taste in colors. If everyone liked the same things, there would be one kind of car and only one color offered. :-( ...and that would be very boring!

It seems that many people believe that their preferrences are the only correct ones... but I guess things look different through different eyes. The proof is in the wide variety of things we choose.

Be prepared to find that no matter what you choose, you will get criticism from someone. Do what looks good to you, and don't worry about others opinions. You will never satisfy them all unless you show no imagination at all, and just paint it a single color that shows no "personality" at all. (With the bright yellow bottom, I don't think that would satisfy you.) :-)

I try to bounce ideas off people to straighten out my own.I guess that is kind of wacky.:whacked:

Your right about the solid Case Equipment tone yellow not making me happy.I haven't worked out a design for that yet that will include other colors.

I always tell people "It's not my choice, it's theirs. Mine is just to paint"

I am not big on flames.The lettering style is really the only interesting part of this photoshop and it would be possibly in gold leaf.

I'm not a flame person either, but done correctly, I like them on a yellow vehicle better than some other colors.
