rust converter

Used a little klean strip rust converter (good stuff)on the back of my bumper and it worked great.So me thinks ill use it on my frame.Cleaned degreased sanded rinsed all the good stuff.went to get some more converter and they only had the mar-hyde converter in a can.My god that stuff suxs,sprayed it on and it jumped right back off looked good at first, but got up the next day and blew 90 percent right off with compressed air looked like a bad peelin sunburn. just got my por 15 catalog in but now i am scared,looks like the guy tryin to get it off the fender in the (why do they do it) post had a hard time removin it,but i am gun shy now.Never used any rust stuff before always just primed and painted.help me feel confident about this stuff and if it doesnt work i can blame u guys here .j/k:whacked: thnx all for helpin me keep my state of mind!

POR 15 is amazing. lots of warnings and stuff, but it goes a long way and yes, you won't get it off. I have tried 36 grit sandpaper on a drill...no go. But it does stop rust dead - forever. won't wear off so it is good for under teh car, frame, floorpan, etc.

they sell stuff you can use more like primer for painting, but i have not tried it - yet.

I've been using Zero-rust, and I like the results so far. The only thing that I have any concern for is the fact that it takes a few weeks to really harden. Some of this could me my fault for spraying it too thinck, but the manufacturer says that it seals so well that it seals itself from drying quickly. It's dries to the touch really fast, but you can still scratch it for a few days. After that, though, I have a lot of confidence in the durability. It's not as harmful to spray as Por-15 either.

I have also used Picklex 20 which is a true rust "converter". It's about $70 a gallon, but it goes a really long way. It's a pretty safe product to use as well.

I decided to go for the converter and dumped it down the cab pillars and coated the top and underside of the roof with it as well .It had nothing from the factory .But I am going to use por 15 for the frame........ Thnx fer all the help!
