AFR heads, how much are they worth???
....Hello Everyone, I've got a set of AFR heads, 195's, 76 cc's, 2.05 intake, 1.0625 exhaust. I got then around 10 years ago but the motor only has a couple of thousand miles on it. So they have been sitting for years. Is there anything that can go wrong when heads sit around??? I'm concidering selling them. Can I advertise 'Good Condition' or should I have them checked out first??? Thanks, Bill

The valve seals can dry up, but not much else will go wrong. Valve seals are very cheap anyways.

just make sure nothing is rusted from sitting. and suck the ports out with a vacuum to make sure nothing has settled in them. replace the seals and they should be good to go.80 MALIBU WAGON driver project

.....so new seals & vacuum out the ports. Thanks a bunch 76GMC & Malibu. They are aluminum heads so rust shouldn't be an issue & the springs look good. Bill

When talking corrosion on cylinder heads, the biggest issue is the valve seat because there is no oil there. You should be fine, though, because the valves were closed and sealed which keeps moisture off the seating surface. Corrosion anywhere isn't really an issue if it's not heavy, even on the valve stems.

I'm interested in the heads give me a good deal on them and ill buy them.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
