Once the problems with the floor were solved and the weather got warmer I took the upper part of the body to a nearby paint and body shop in Ashland where Kenny Bishop sanded it down and sprayed it with a wine colored metallic formula using Dupont color with three coats of clear. Since the shop is Haskins Body Shop, they want to call it "Haskin's Merlot" but we were not able to back out the formula to any particular car; it is just a fine grain metallic I picked out from about 1000 color chips. I am more than satisfied with the color but amazingly even though the body had been sitting out under a tarp for almost 12 months, it still outgassed a little where Kenny sanded it so it has a few bubbles. The paint job was not cheap! However I got an agreement in writing that when I get the car running and bring it back to paint the primered steel wheels, they will touch up imperfections.
