I think I bite off more than I can chew.

I bought a 1980 Chevy short wide bed and have plans to build a street/drag truck out of it. Well got it home and started working on it and it seems like every time you turn around you find something else thatn can or needs to be done on it. I am currentlly working on the body work and I have never done this so its a new experince for me. I have a few people I use for info. it make you wonder how autobody people even make a liveing doning that. I almost feal like it will never get done.:eek: :CRY: :confused:

Brother, you're preachin' to the choir!

People make a living quite well, by charging for the hour.

bidding by the job is where they get into trouble. Most shops either won't work on older cars, or won't bid by the job.

Of all the chores you get involved with when building a car, body work is my least favorite...........especially sanding. My hat is off to those people who do it for a living.

I enjoy every part of the build.......but the body work. I'm first to admit I just don't have the touch for it. I don't mind sanding (too much :LOL: ), welding pannels in or even aligning doors hoods etc. I just can never get filler sanded/shaped right. It's the main reason I sent the last 2 out for for the body work part................which can be even more frustrating than trying to do it myself.

Have always charged T & M.
Or my line to a customer is " You tell me how much you want to spend and I'll tell ya how much you'll get for your $$.

I hate trying to get out all of the little dents. I took one look and the rear panel of my pickup bed, and decided a new panel for 150.00 dollars was a cheap solution to unlimited hours of bondo and sanding!:D

Thats what I did with my front fenders my buddy was saying they could be fixed and I tried fixing one of them and after a day and a half of bondo and sanding I said to heck with that and bought two new ones for 270 dollars. By the way nobody knows were you can get good fenders and things of that sort for a good price and the shipping dont kill you.
