Has anyone ever had digital dakota or dakota digital (whichever one it is, sorry I can't think right now) guages before?
If so, what are the pros and cons of these instruments?

I used Cyberdyne digital gauges in my 32. They were great. I had a little trouble with the sun from time to time, but you learn to live with it. Most of the digital gauge companies warrantee them for lifetime. The most important thing about them is to make sure you use a seperate ground for each gauge, believe me, it matters! I have a friend that uses "Dakota Digital", and he also had great luck. The car I have now is all mechanical because it's easier to focus on the position of a needle than to read a group of numbers. In the end, it all comes down to what "look" you're going for. The "high tech" look is digital. BTW, I have a complete set of extra Cyberdyne digital gauges just sitting on my shelf if you're interrested.
Are you changing to digital gauges in Old Yeller? I would think by the time your brain comprehends the readings you'll already have the shoot open.
No way, I'm staying with the mechanical ones I have.Quote:

Thanks for the info guy's. Pro can you get me some pictures and a price please? I might take you up on the offer, also what all do you have? I just wan't speedometer, oil pressure, gas, battery. I think I am missing one or two but you get what I mean, just the basic ones that I need.
Let me dig out what I have. I should have a speedo, tach, water temp, volt meter, gas gauge, and oil pressure. This may take me a few days, so hang in there.Quote:

The gauges I have are the kind that go behind a panel, so they are a little different that your average gauge. I have exactly what I mentioned in the other post. I can't seem to find the picture I had of them mounted in my car. They were mounted behind a Wabbits dash. I do not have the wiring directions, but I'm sure if you called Cyberdyne they could help you out. After I tell you the deal I have for you, it will be easy to make up your mind if you want them or not. Just PM me your shipping address and you can have them. I could ship them out Monday, if you let me know early enough. This pic is of the oil pressure gauge. The blue disc in the background is the face.
This is the back.
Well guys, I dug this old thread up looking to see if the contact info to Cyberdyne is on this site but I cannot find it. I searched Google, etc and found only other distributors contact info. I know this is an old thread but no sense in making a new one when there is this one I can just use again. Anyways, does anyone have the number to Cyberdyne?
I will be using these guages that Mike here gave me a few months back in my 66 Ford truck since the stock ones in it now are busted up and the speedo doesn't work. I don't know all I need but I do need the directions and whatever else like sensors.
Thank you.
this is there web site
http://www.dakotadigital.com/
and the phone # is 724-258-8484
30coupe, I need the Cyberdyne contact info man sorry. Thanks anyways!
Shawn, I found this address and phone number. It's worth a try.
They do not have a web site.
Cyberdyne Incorporated

New Eagle, PA 15067
(724) 258-8440
The above information is correct. I just did a yellow pages search and everything matched.
Pro60Chevy, thanks a lot! I guess when I call I just tell them that I have JUST the gauges but no directions or sensors? Or is there other things that I am missing? I don't want to call them sounding like an idiot not knowing all there is to them haha.
Call them "sending units" Otherwise tell them exactly what you said above. You're welcome.Quote:

Ok Sending Units... got it! ;) I can't wait to get these things in here. I have had them sitting here in that same box you sent them to me in for ever and now they will be getting used. Some of the things have TWO blue face covers on them and there are finger prints in the middle of them so I will have to take them apart, clean them and glue them back together....
The finger prints are probably mine. hehehe You might have to break the plastic, or drill holes thru them to get to the little screws, then you can replace the plastic with better stuff.
lol man you better sure hope you don't get in trouble with the LAW!!! Well wait... Go get in trouble and wait until there is a reward for you. I have the finger prints hahahaha! So you made the plastic faces? If so then good job. I need to see how high the speedo will go too. I only see that it reads 2 digits so I am hoping it will go over 100 heh.
If my memory is correct, I think it went up to 99, but I could be wrong.
Alright. Yeah probably 99 only. Oh well I guess if I go over that I will have to guess the speed I am doing.
Thanks and I will call that number on Monday and try to order all the sending units and directions.
There's no need to guess. If it reads 00 you are doing 100, if it shows 20, you are doing 120. I'm sure you know what I mean.
Oh so it will go over. Ok awsome!!!!! Heh that just made my day. :p I thought that 90 would be it and then the rest is for guessing. Oh and thanks again for that reminder about the grounds. I read this "Hot Rod Wiring" book I got from a local library and it said that seperate grounds are the most important when dealing with the guages and that people sometimes have problems with guages and think it's the gauge itself when it is actually their fault because they didn't use seperate grounds for each gauge. I guess I will bolt on a strip of bare metal and mount it behind the dash and put seperate small screws spaced out and use those as the grounds and have it all nice and in a row. :) Sounds like fun!
