radiator modification- possible??
My 50' truck has a radiator core support that is rectangular, with the long side upward. I have a good radiator out of another car, except it is oriented the long way horizontally.
This question may be off the wall (I'm no radiator expert), but is it possible to modify radiators so that you can turn them 90 degrees from how they were meant to mount.
If I rotate it 90, the upper inlet will still be at the top, and the lower out will still be at the bottom. The only thing will be the pressure cap.
Can I attach a 90 degree elbow of some sort so that it makes the cap point upward again.
??????????
the reason I have to do this is because the inner fenders come right up against the core support, so I'd have to hack them up to put the radiator in there the long way.

Don't do it,,,,just go to your Radiator repair shop with your stock one and have it renewed,,,after your RAD man get's through with it,,,it'll have all new coring, and it'll be better than stock."I don't know everything and i like it that way"

I guess I shouldn't have gotten rid of that ancient original radiator.
I had no idea people renewed radiators.

Your truck should be easy to find an old radiator for,,,it's only a 1950's after all, just go to a wrecker and pick one up, cos it wont matter if it's damaged,,,you'll be getting it Recored right??, and yes,,,,,after the Radiator rebuilder get's through with renewing your old Rad, it'll look like stock,,but perform much better than stock.Originally posted by tcodi

In our neighborhood, 2 blocks down the hill was a gas station that (to me) all the cool car guys hung out there. 32 coupes, 33 & 34 Fords as well, a sweet 56 Ford Beach wagon that was setup gasser...
