Hi,
My street rod has these with front camaro 11" disc brakes. Many people have said that these rear lincoln brakes are no good, and I should replace them. I was planning to buy rebuilt calipers, buy new rotors, etc. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

if they will stop a 4000 lb.+ lincoln i think they would work fine no a st. rod. :rolleyes: :HMMM:

They work just fine, especially for a lighter car (than the lincoln)like yours
I have a 5200 pound street rod with camaro 11" front discs and the lincoln 11" rear discs. I am rebuilding the front suspension and was planning new rotors, calipers, etc. Then I thought why not improve the brakes with bigger rotors etc. Basically various brake reps were saying the lincoln brakes are inadequate. If the current set-up will provide good braking, I'll just proceed with new OEM camaro and lincoln.
Thoughts????
if you have up dated from drum to disc id leave it alone. what are you driving? a tank, now we cant read your mind, the way you put it, i would assume it was a normal st. rod, 5000 lb st. rod is not your everyday st. rod, how about telling us the rest of the story.:confused: :LOL:Quote:

My car is a 1936 Packard Hearse with 160" wheelbase. It has a supercharged 454 with 700r4 transmission. It weighs about 5200 lbs. That's why I want to have the best brakes possible.
so thats the rest of the story. i dont know but id say any late model disc is a improvment over what it had. what size drums was on there? :HMMM:Quote:

The Versailles weighed just shy of 4000 lbs. You're looking at another 1200 lbs. Does anyone like master power brakes make an upgrade for that axle?

I have that same rearend on my 2700 lb. nova. needless to say, it stops.
the problem you will find is that parts for that particular rearend are very hard to find... and expensive once you do. i finally found rotors and calipers and it cost me nearly $200 (with core). i also have been looking for rear brake hoses for weeks and no one has them. might have to re-use the ones that are on there.
Regardless, it will probably work for you, but parts might be hard to come by.
