strut front suspension
I'm building a 9 second street/strip 41' Willys and am thinking of using a McPherson strut front suspension (vs. the Mustang II IFS) due to weight and simplicity. Does anyone have any suggestion about a junkyard strut system that would be practical?
Looking forward to some ideas.

Bill I dont have any suggestion as to what strut set up you could use, but just thought I would ask are you sure you want to go with a strut front end? Strut fronts are great (i know pro Z is useing one so maybe he can give you some info) but for the weight saving (only about 25 pounds) the cost isnt really worth the offset for a 9 sec car. 9's are fast but struts arent neccesary for that to be honest, i'm building a mid 8's car and i'm using a tubular a-arm front myself. Just wanted to make sure you knew you dont have to spend the extra cash if you dont want to for those times.

I'd have to agree with BG. I'm going with struts for personal preference only. They look good, but they are spendy. You could get struts from a donor car cheaper, but they may need altering to work for your application. I've never done that, but have heard stories of people remaking struts to fit from a donor. I have a little over 2k in mine. That includes R&P steering and wilwood 4 piston H.D. brakes. There is a guy here locally with an outlaw camaro same year as mine running ''stock'' front suspension mid 8's =170's . Very wild ride, but he hasn't hit anything/anybody yet. **)   **)
