Which Electric Fuel pump
Well I dont think my mech fuel pump is producing what it needs to at low rpm for a good launch. I have been thinking of switching to an electric for a while but im not sure which to buy. I dont know what flow or psi i need so if anyone can help me out it would be a great help. My car stats are listed below.
350, bored .030 over, performer rpm intake, 2.02 heads, comp cam .490 lift, 286 int/236ex @ .050", 650 edelbrock thunderseries carb, msd 6al ignition with a 55k volt coil. O and does anyone know at what temp fuel turns to vapor?Last edited by trenchdog73; 04-09-2005 at 07:13 PM.

Holley or any of the other companies all make a "street/strip" pump that flow around 70gph that should work fine for your combo and are around $100.Somewhere out on Woordward ave. cruzin!

Gasoline vaporizes at very low temperatures. That's why you can smell it even at zero F.Jack

Have any of u used the holley red electric fuel pump? Is it good enough to run solo on a day to day basis and not starve the engine for fuel under hard acceleration?

I had a Holley blue pump on a BBC 4x4 that I use to take off roading all the time, never had any starvation probs even on inclines with it. I "think" the Red is pretty much the same as the old hoelly blue pumps, or a bit better if I'm not mistaken.

One more question, When you ran the pump did you use stock fuel pick ups or did you run the pump with a gravity feed?

When I changed to the holley pump on my truck I changed the whole fuel system. I went with a 16 gal fuel cell inline filters and braided lines. I think you can use the stock pick up but maybe Henry can awnser that for you better since I changed my whole system.

Use stock pickups, mount the pump as close to the tank as possible (they push better than they pull), and lower than the tank (keeps a head pressure of fuel at the pump).
Pickups now go in from the top of the tank. Bottom outlets are frowned upon (outlawed?) on the street.Jack

Anyone have any Mounting location tips. I have found a couple of places but they are not at the rear or benith the lowest point of the gass tank.

It should (or at least use to) come with a mounting bracket/tab. I would mount the bracket on the frame as close to the tank as you can. As henry said try to mount it somewhat low, but make surw its not the lowest thing under the car. You certianly dont want to hit a bump or stab the throttle and have it scrap the ground
I'll see if I cant find a pic of the Aeromotive elec. pump I put on the T bird and post it for you so you can see where I mounted that one.

does it need to be perfectly vert? or will a slight angle be alright?
