Safety First,.....
i'm not here to rant, just remind everyone safety first,
Overview:
I decided when the time came to getting another classic , i would look for a ' finished daily driver'.
I found one in northern Calif. Flew from Wash. state with the pretence to drive it back . Afterall the seller indicated his uncle had built it. Soooo, I assumed it was a family build and......
Wrong...
When i returned back to the NW, i immdiately took it to my trusty garage.
" Check it out like you would for your mother " were my instructions.
Here's a sampling.
1. Every major, minor welds to all the suspension were 'unsafe'- bubble gum welds w/ gaps and no penetration.
2. battery location -unsafe & wiring was ' fire waiting to happen.
3. Fuel system , well ( i can't repeat it here )
So was i ticked off.
Sure, but really disapointed in the fact that calif has tons of speed shops, the build didnt have to be so myckey mouse.
Luckily, my trusty garage turned me onto one of the highest rated welding shops in town. We all know most shops won't touch someone elses junk...but...
"CD ", ( also owns a 46 chevy pickup, which he fabricated his own one-piece fiberglass tilt front end = sweeet ).
CD started the very next day !
All along the re-build CD stressed Safety first, so things too longer to re-do. CD , has the enthusisum of a champion. Never was there dissapointment in his voice, only." ..why'd they just run this here or finish this here. Ok here, your're now good to go."
Thankfully for meeting CD and all his hot rod friends they'll be another 41 safely rolling along!.
Big Thanks CD !
