Ground issues

thats the problem, the injecters don't flash... They stop getting the signal that tells them to pump. My truck, being the TBI is supposed to have between 9 and 13 PSI and I've got around 12. I know that not the issue, it's got something to do with the injecters not getting the signal but I have no idea where to start. I've got a new computer here but I'm not sure if this problem will screw it up or not. The used one I've got in it now still works but I'm nit sure how much abuse like this it can take. If I can get it started again, I'm either going to find a big cliff to drop this thing off of or I might take it in somewhere because I'm totaly lost on this one.

i thought the 1994 s-10 with the 4.3 had MPI. ok i sorry you dont need all of that pressure. something has to tell the inj. to fire and that should be the module in the dist. have you checked the module? that motor dont have a crank or cam senser that i know of.

ok, I think I have ruled out the computer and maybe the chip... Just for kicks i put the new right off the shelf computer in it and tried it with no change. So then I put the Hypertech chip in it thinking that maybe the fuel portion of the chip may be bad and this would override it. I tried it again with no change... Not sure if this means anything or not but I figured it was worth a try...

no crank or cam sensor... I took the ignition module in to have it checked three different times, each time I took it in, it was ran at least 5 or 6 times and one time he ran it 10 times, it got so hot you almost couldn't touch it, but it tested fine all three times... The MPI, actually a CPI was on the Vortec. The TBI was the other version... I'm not sure why they made both, they should have used the CPI in all of them...

i have the alldata at the shop, ill look tomorrow and see if i can come up with anything. the only trouble with this is untill it cuts off and wont crank or set a code nobody ant gonna fix it unless they get lucky. :confused:

thats why I havn't taken it in before... My girl friends car did something similar but only when it rained or was wet outside. They had the car for almost two weeks and couldn't figure it out. I spent about an hour online at a forum like this and figured it out and had it fixed the next day for about $50. The dealer that had it for almost two weeks ran about $200... Anyway, I appreciate your help on this. I'm running out of ideas, mainly because of frustration...
Symptoms: no signal to injecters. Does not die while running! Only happens when trying to start. Also have a funny thing with my turn signals. sometimes they blink, sometimes they stay on, sometimes they do both... May be related
Just incase, to let you know, I have replaced/checked the following: Replaced: fuel pump, injecters, fuel filter, fuel presure regulator, computer (not chip). Checked: fuel pressure 12psi, ignition module is 98% for sure ok, doubt its the chip...
The guys at autozone awhile back thought it may be the pickup coil, not sure because they can't test that. May be a place to start though. Truck specs: '94 S-10, 4.3 V-6 TBI Z vin code 2 wheel drive. If you need anything else let me know.

ill check that tomorrow and ill find out where all those grounds are at.

you do have 12 volts at the inj?

last time i checked. It was there with the key turned on but it cuts off once I get past the on possition and try to start it.

that dont sound right it should be spraying while you start it. you dont have a bad ign. switch do you? ill check this out tomorrow. if you spray fuel into the motor and it starts up does it keep running or does it cut back off when you stop spraying it.?

it will die because the injecters don't spray. When I try to start it, I get no signal. I guess I didn't say that right. I get the signal but when I try to start it it doesn't flash. Lets put it that way. If i put a noid light on it, the light doesn't flash but if I put a hot light (12 volt light) I have juice. Sorry about that... I'm looking at anything that could tell the injecters what to do. It could ba a ground but I can't see anything out of the ordanary like loose wires and such. It could be a fuseable link to but I checked the ones on the driver side fender and they were fine. The biggest problem with these is the placement of the starter. I can't see the wires comming into it and going out of it. Someone thought it may be that ground thats causing my problems...

the noid light and a test light is the same thing. if the test light burnes then the noid light should to . the 12 volts comes off of the fuse box to the inj. the wire then goes to the computer where the module tell the computer to ground the inj. and that is when it sprays. i just need to get that stright you have voltage at the inj. while the motor is turning, but no flash.

As soon as I get an extra hand I will verify that i have juice while I'm trying to start it. I know I have it with the key on, and I'm 95% positive i have it while trying to start but not 100% on that one...

just to let you know... I went out this morning, and it fired right up... I'm really lost, if I take it to work, it probably won't start for lunch but it would get me home after work... thats how this works... strange crap...
