My 2000 Chev Ck 2500 4X4 gas guage when full only reads about 7/8ths full.
Is there some way of adjusting the guage or is a sending unit malfunctioning???
Any help greatly appreciated!

unplug the wire at the tank. if the dash gauge goes all the way to "F" then its the tank unit. if it stayes where its at its the dash gauge. ground the tank wire and the dish gauge should go to "E" no adj. **)Quote:

According to the dealer service writer that I talked to, there are two types of gas gauge senders on the late model Chevy trucks......ones that are screwed up and ones that are just about ready to screw up. It is a common problem and they want big bucks to drop the tank and replace the fuel pump/sender unit. AND, according to sources, the replacement has no improvements so it will fail too.
If yours hasnt yet, it will get to the point that it goes to empty while sitting at a stop light.
Yup, my '01 does that. Reads empty for a while after you fill it too. It used to bug me, but now I'm used to it. For $700-800 I can remember when I last filled up and use the trip odometer. After 4 years and 55k miles that's the only thng that has gone wrong with the truck and it runs good so I'm not that upset.Quote:
