Can I drop A Ford 429 into a Corvette frame?
I know this is blasphemy to some but I've got a 1978 Vette frame and a Ford 429 w/ c6 tranny. What would be involved to mate these as I've never mixed "brands" before. Are there motor mount adapters available for this? I'd probably have to mod the tranny crossmember also? I'd like to not weld if I don't have to.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanx.

Good luck putting that 429 in there. Are you planning on cutting glass away. I just put long headers on our 72 vette and there so tight that we had to remove the motor mounts to get them in. And this is with a 350. Anything is possible, but the Question is how much do you want to spend$$$.

You say you have a vette frame. Do you have just the frame or is it a roller or do you have the body attached to the frame or will you mount another body to the vette frame or what do you have and what do you plan to do with it. Please be specific. Any motor will fit in any frame if you have a sawzall, a grinder and a mig.Last edited by techinspector1; 06-29-2005 at 10:09 AM.

It's a rolling frame, I'll be putting a kit body on so that's not a problem.
All I'm woried about right now is mounting it to the rolling frame with little or no welding.
