Can anyone help with IDing this spindle? I think it is from a 35 Ford. I looks like the one I had in my 39 but I can't find anyone who knows what year it might be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again for your brain power!

What's the casting number on it?

Should be on the "face" of the spindle in the picture. My eyes aren't good enough to make it out though.
Hey Bob, I checked for the number and found a 26 stamped in the backing plate. I took the drum off and didn't find any number on the spindle side. On the outside bearing is the following: Ford B-1216 Timken X, if that helps any. Like I said, the axle assembly has the spring mount forward of the axle instead of above the axle like on the A. However, instead of the wide bolt pattern of the 39, this has a 5.5" bolt pattern. It also had 16" wheels on it.

The backing plate looks like a '39-40. In the picture there should be a two digit # on the part of the spindle you can see, forward of the axle, between the upper and lower through bolts.
Numbers mean;
58 = 35
68 = 36
78/81/91/01 = 37-40
Looks like the spring hanger still has the attachment point for mechanical brakes which would indicate '35-'38, drum you describe would likely be '40-'48
Thanks Bob, I'll check it again. The backing plate actually has a hydralic brake line that is cut and hanging out about 1 inch at the top. This has been a real puzzle. The reason I'll so concerned about this spindle is this. There are kits available for the 39, etc. that allow for disc brake conversion. I have a set of disc off a 77 Granada that I would like to use for this install if possible, and save some money over buying new ones. Thanks again.
OK, I checked again and it has a 26 stamped in the location you discribed.
I found it. The part where the king pin goes through the spindle has a 78 stamped on the back of it. According to Bob, it is a 37. That's great news because now I can order the adapter kits for the disc brakes. Otherwise I would have had to buy the spindles. Thanks Bob.
