Hey fellow HotRodders. I have a question for those who have installed a later model rear end on a chevy from the 30's. I was wondering what rear end would be a good fit for a 36' chevy coupe, the tires will have to clear the fender wells of the rear (obviously). The car is going to be a cruiser, any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!:whacked:
If you are asking for a width, that would depend on your tire/wheel size and offset. You would need to do some mocking-up and measuring.
As for a method of mounting the rear end, I would say the quickest and least expensive method would be parallel leafs with tube shocks.

Thanks sir speedy, I have been contimplating on how or what I want the look of the car too have. I have been messing with different dimensions. I appreciate the advice...
SirSpeedy is right, there is no bulletproof way to do this until you have the tires and wheels you plan to run and position them in the wheelwells, then use your tape to measure from one wheel mounting surface to the other to get the exact width of the rear that will work. Then go hunting. You might get lucky and find one that is exactly the right width, then again, you may have to narrow a rear.

you might want to look into a vette independent, makes a nice install and rides alot more easier. my brother went that way in a 49 ford coupe and it turned out real nice, good luck. HAPPY HOLIDAYS
