Tire of the future?
They didn't say anything about wide whites, but still worth reading.

Wow, Bob...........imagine the possibilities, clear tires that you can see thru like glass, so it appears you are floating on air, or college kids starting a fad of................goldfish in tires......hahaha

I think the technology will stay with run flats as being the new thing. If run flats come available in wide whites and in performance tires, I'm shure the custom/ hotrod market would take hold. Simple reason, no spare needed.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

That is definitely an interesting article. While this did mention heat and cost, not mouch if anything was said about performance, i.e. traction. Also, pardon my chemistry ignorance, but isn't polyurethane made with a lot of petroleum products? Seems we really don't need something else that consumes oil. Will be interesting to see what else they might make out of the stuff.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!
