How do I make this mount?

would that be thicker than the original and I would need to shave it down where it would stay the original thickness?, I get what your saying, I could probably make it myself using the aluminum, a cutting wheel and a die grinder.:)

so if I get some 1/2" sheet aluminum stock, I will be able to mill out the ridge for the fingers right? I never thought of using aluminum, I was thinking I was going to have to bend a peice special, with a lot of fit and trim work. that last picture really makes it easier to understand, thanks for posting it.

Hey Mat---thats what I've been doing for 41 years now---taking things that seem terribly complex, and turning them into simple peices that can be built cost effectively in machine shops.---Your original peices would have been made of sheet metal about .05" thick, and there would have been 2 of them like the attached model. That shape is difficult to reproduce without a big stamping press and the proper dies to use in it to shape the part.---And----FYI---that would be 1" x 3/8" aluminum bar stock used to make the part shown in the drawing.

I think we have a mill in the back of the auto shop, could possibly put it on that. I could probably pound some metal over a steel rod of the correct diamater and make it work, but the Aluminum will probably look better.
