Spindle sleeve
I'm replacing the king pins, wheel bearing, cups, cones and seals in my 1938 Chevy 2 door sedan. The car has the original I-beam axle and was converted to GM disc brakes on the front. What I need is the sleeve that was placed over the original spindle to accept the new bearings for the GM rotors. Can any one tell me where I can find the sleeves? I've been looking on line and the only thing I can find is a complete kit with new calipers, rotors, bearing and etc. I don't need the whole kit. Thanks for your help!

So, what you need is the assymmetrical bi- temporal convoluter then?

Don't hold me to this, but I may have these. Do they slip over the spindles, and shoulder up against the very inside of the spindle, and have a tapered side and a flat side?
Years ago I picked up a conversion kit to put discs on an early Chev front end, and since I am a drum brake kind of guy, I never used them. I actually cut up the flat steel brackets to use for some tabs or something one time, and I remember seeing something in my junk parts boxes not too long ago that I felt were these spacers. You know how you hang onto stuff because you might need it some day??
I will be at my shop tomorrow, and will take a look, and if I have them I'll post the pictures. I don't really want anything for them, just pay the shipping. This is all assuming that I have them and that they are the right pieces, of course.
I'll let you know either way tomorrow.

Sleeve
The original spindle sleeve slides over the original spindle and steps down on to the spindle shaft to form a sleeve for the new bearings to set on. Thanks Don. I will look here tomorrow.

I found them, and hope they are what you are looking for. I don't know the exact application, because I got these like 20 years ago, but here is what I do know.
I tried to slip them over some '40 Ford spindles, and the bore is too small to go over the spindle. I then tried them on some '49-'54 Chevy spindles, same problem, so they are for something smaller.
The bore is roughly 1 and 1/6" plus just a hair (didn't have my micrometer with me)
The large part is about 1 3/4 " and has a bevel in it. The small end is about 1 1/4" and extends out 5/8" from the fat end, and overall the length is almost 1 3/8".
I know the brackets that came with them were to put something like Chevy Nova or Monte Carlos brakes on an early something.
I realize not much info, but that is all I know. Pictures are enclosed, hope these are the ones you need. If so, I'll send them to you and you can send me $ 10.00 to handle the fedex. Just let me know.

Picture 3, by the way, the rust isn't as bad as it looks in pictures, it will sand off, I'm sure.

Sleeve
Don, thanks for looking for me. I measured mine and they will not fit. I guess I will half to order a complete set with brackets and all. That will fit this car. I really appreciate your help. I can't thank you enough for your time and help! It's good there are people still willing to go the extra mile for a fellow car nut. Thanks again

Just a thought, but what about actually contacting the vendor directly and see if they wiil sell you just the sleeve.
I was able to do that with the kit I bought for my 57 Plymouth which also uses a sleeve. Although it wasn't something he normally got requests for, he sold me just the sleeve I needed.

Sorry they weren't right. I have no idea what the heck these are for.
Mike P has a great idea. He is probably right that the manufacturer would sell individual components. What if one got damaged or something.
Good luck,
Don

Thanks guys. I will check with the dealer and see what he says. I will keep my fingers crossed.
Several years ago we did quite a good trip of USA, and on our trip we got to meet Mike and Christine Frade. We didn't stay long with them, but in that relatively short time we both gained a great...
