Steering Column Question
This is a follow up to my earlier question about turn signal stalks. I have the new stalk with cruise control switches, now trying to figure out how to run the wire down the column. Column is from a '79 Caprice. It has what feels like a plastic piece on the left side that the turn and tilt go through, I am trying to figure out how the heck it comes off so I can thread my new wires. I'm hoping I don't have to pull the whole column apart. There must be a way to do this in order to service a defective cruise control switch.
thanks for any help
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Thanks Denny,
Unfortunately, there was no Cruise control wire there to begin with. It had been cut off before I got it.

It really looks like there is an access panel that can be removed, I will take a picture later today and post it, maybe that will trigger someone's memory or idea

Here is a picture. My finger is pointing at the piece that I believe will somehow come out of there so I could route wires down the column. The hole above my finger is for the tilt lever, the turn signal is to the right.
thanks

Thanks Denny, for all your suggestions and work. I'll try fishing a wire up the column as you suggest.

Leave it to Detroit to need 89 parts to build a steering column.Jack

We managed to get a couple of other small things taken care of. One was blacking out the front of the core support. When the sun hit the front of the car just right that green paint on the core...
