Which electric fan??
Thinking of installing one on my 64 chevelle. I want to take the engine driven fan out so i'm looking for something that will be able to keep the car cool in all driving conditions. Anyone have any recommendations on size, type, brand etc....?
Engine is 355 small block, 10:1 compression, auto trans, no a/c. Puts out around 400 horse. Car is street driven (usually hard :) )
Thanks for the help!!

SPAL. As big in diameter as you can fit. Puller (mounted between rad and engine) with a shroud, run through a relay.

Why an electric? Is the engine running cool now? If it is, no real reason to switch. Yes, getting rid of the engine driven fan will free up some horsepower (miinimal), but it also will require more horsepower to keep the alternator charging enough to keep that big electric fan spinning....... You'd have to have it on a dyno to note any horsepower gains with the switch......

i bought the summit brand fans from summit- they have been working just fine, nice and quiet, i know you can spend 10 times the amount at places like be cool and the like, but these summit fans work great, no complaints

The main reason I chose a electric fan was the amputation and missle factor of a steel fan set up. Also the pierced hood when a motor mount lets go:LOL: Safety was the main thing for me, not the cooling. The stock fans make a real nice sound when revving the engine u do not get from an electric fan.
