American made/off shore parts

Well.......I'm not done yet.....I wrote to a major supplier of windshield seals a while ago and asked if any NOS was around...Some rep replied that no ..they don't do NOS and besides if I do find one it wouldn't be any good because it had been packaged up for thirty years and all dried out..Well I let him/her know thet evidently you must also deal with sweat shops in third world countries making crap shoes or something...because of the trumped up sales pitch....GM offered seals for 69-72 GM trucks up until just a few years ago..So the seal could have only been in the box drying up for like five-six years...The windshield seal in my 69 Chev truck has been out in the weather for over thirty years...Now thats what you call DRIED UP!!!!!...The friendly Asian friendly rep also said they have had and I quote"HARDLY ANY TROUBLE WITH THEIR THIRD WORLD MADE SEALS/WINDSHIELDS"....HARDLY!!!!!!..That sent me over the edge...I let them know that I will not tolerate "HARDLY"...I want American made parts to use in my American made trucks....I find them..Just takes a while.....More later I am sure.....Al...

You will get a lot of run around from many many suppliers...

the worst i have ever seen in in trying to get something printed. I mean, like mail order catalogs and such. You've seen Summit's book, JCWhitnety, etc, right? I bet you'll get 150 catalogs of some kind tween now and Xmas in your mailbox,right?

Well, i was workin fer a guy in the mailorder motorcycle parts biz, and we wanted to do a catalog. WELL, it gets cornfuzin right quick - paper quality, coatings, offset/web/heatset types of printing, etc.

What i found was if you find a catalog you like and start a-goin' to printer and askin' "Can ya do this?" you get a YES, and then they show you what they can do (95% of the time is ain't even close to waht you asked for). Each print shop is set up to do ONE type of printing.

OK, you say. So who does THIS type of work (holding up your ideal item) - WELL, you get NO answer from ANYONE. Suddenlythey get all quiet and don't know a darn thing!

It's like that is many businesses...you ask for X and unless they have X on the shelf, you get a cold shoulder, stupid answer, bait-and-switch expereince, etc. Those places never seem to realize that I'll never be back there with my money! I prefer someplace that KNOWS the biz they are in, and if they can't help me, they will point me in the right direction. THAT is the place i will recommend and patronize!

Classic Industries has a kit for your truck that includes the windshield seal, door seals, rear window seal, trim grooves, and some other stuff. The complete weather strip kit is $189.95. They also have almost all of the parts you need to build a completely new truck, even OEM.
Just the windshield weather strip is $40.

A hardy thanks to all of you that responded to my ranting...There are two things on my mind all the time..Well.....the two things my mind can handle at once...."If I am going to get screwed I damn well better get kissed !!!!! ".....and " It all comes to he who waits"...I've got a youngster who helps me get most of what I want at a Local Napa store..He likes Fords and I don't even hold that against him....(just kidding)....He understands where I am coming from even though he thinks I am essentric sometimes...He is also a pretty damn good wrench...To the other young people there a part is a part is a part...Peddling parts is just a job and they rarely work on their own vehicles...My man "Kevin" and I have some pretty good times...Of course I remind him all the time that I can still kick his ass !!!!!....(just kidding)...No wait a minute..I mean it...Gotta go now..I have to go dig out the brand new south of the border light bulb bases I put in last night that twisted off in the sockets in one of my 65 Chev trucks...Grrrrrrrrr......Al...

Hey there streets !!!..Speaking of CRAP ..I don't do that either..I use acetone OK??...You can get your own gallon at your local hardware...Really I am always high on what I do..I love doing what I'm doing...I repair Mercury Outboards for a living mostly but have to take in the car/truck work during the slow saeson..I am my own boss..I walk across the drive to go to work...Hardly anyone comes to shoot the breeze...No one bothers me...I am high all the time...I have enough land to where I can have humungus brush fires so I use the crap cataloges I get for fire starter..And I get rid of all my waste oil at the same time...I recently redid the front clip on a 2002 Ford Ranger outa half offshore parts ( HEY !! ..I DIDN'T BUY EM ) and half Ford parts...I nearly went back to YUKON JACK!!!..Some of the Chinese parts had been drilled wrong three times!!!....Well Sam Dung you did it again!!!!!.....Al..

Easy now I'm a ninth grade drop out you know...What happened to you anyhow????......Sounds like you got busted up pretty bad....I'm a walking (usually) medical miracle..I survived polio at the age of five...It weakened all my muskels which makes sprains a general part of life..Add a few vehicle mishaps and other accidents and away we go !!!!....More like away we don't go !!!... If it ain't one damn thing its another..There was a time when everybody got into the outboard business..You name it there was an outboard named something....Champion/Firestone/Goodyear/Clinton/Lauson/etc etc etc....I bury them upright in my yard for conversation pieces...They are pretty much a waste of time to get running and to use.The ignition voltage was too weak from the get go and over the years it did not get any better..It took Mercury Marine up into the 1980's to finally get a CD ignition system that worked good..The old point type systems Mercury had worked real good...You rarely ever had to adjust the points let alone change them..The contacts were made from top grade everything and sometimes out lasted the powerhead...To make a cheap motor they had to go offshore (below 6HP)...The engineering standards at Fond Du Lac are too high for throw away crap...Every American made outboard made by Mercury is made in Fond Du Lac Wisconsin in one huge building.!!!...I would like to see that operation...
