Those of you with saddle gas tanks.....
How did you seal where the neck of the filler goes into the tank? I was thinking of finding a rubber gasket that would fit good around the neck and just place on the neck and push it into the tank and then tighten the clamp around it. Any other ideas welcome. Looks like nobody is running saddle tanks to be able to help you out on this one. Have you contacted the people who made the tanks, if you know who that is?
I have a Total performance tank that I will be using when I put that car together, and I was surprised to see they did pretty much what you are describing..........the tank just has a hole in it, and the filler neck has a piece of rubber around it (like if you cut a 2 inch long section out of a molded radiator hose) and that fits tightly into the tank when you insert the filler neck. Seemed a little hokey to me, but Total has built enough of these cars to know what works, so I guess it's ok.
But the best route would be to call the manufacturer, if you can. But maybe someone will see this post who knows, now that it is revived.
Good luck,
Don
Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
