How do I remove cyl from GM ign switch

I've got one of the old GM in-dash ignition switches with the little pin hole next to the key slot. I want to ge the cylinder out so I can remove the bezel. I know that little hole has something to do with it but don't know the procedure. Any experts out there???

With the key in the switch turn it to ACC or top to the tright. Put a paper clip or similar object in the hole. While pushing in on the paper clip you can pull out the tumbler by holding on to the key.

It's a brand new switch, sitting on my workbench with the brand new key in it, all workable. I'm to look in the little hole for the brass ball??

I don't think you'll see a brass ball.:eek: Just hold the clynder in your hand put in the key turn it CLOCK WISE as far as it will go. Put the paper clip in the hole and pull back on the key it will come out with the lock attached.

I knew how to do this about a hundred years ago but have forgotten way too much suff from the old days.

Don't know the year. It's part of a kit. Big, sturdy switch. Reeks of old GM quality.

I'm thinking I made a mistake here. You want to turn the key Counter Clock Wise. I know it has to go to ACC. to pull the tumbler

See thats what I get for second guessing myself. I haven't pulled one in some time. No I don't get upset. My only concern is he gets the job done. After all thats what its all about Right.:)

I have all but a few of Motors Manuals and about the same in Chiltons. Even got some I can't remember the names but the pages are all yellow and you got to be carful useing them. Even some old flatrate books.
Talk about when things were cheap.
