I know i have mentioned a few times about how poorly my car handled, well let me share the things i learned, ill start by saying my car was subframed with a 71 nova clip, well i guess novas in 71 had drum brakes, so they used 68 skylark discs, and spindals, well thats not all fine and dandy, they overlooked a few important issues. i took it to this guy i met, that all the local rodders had told me about, this was last week, so he looks it over a little, cant see much wrong, so we set an appointment for today so he can align it before i head to daytona, the only thing he saw that concerned him was the tie rods not sitting quite right, they were at an upward angle from the drag link, so all last week i tried to search looking for a wrong part ,or something out of place by checking the various parts on the different year applications, keep in mind i dont have the interchange knowledge some of you guys have, well i cant find anything, so i go to moultry last sat, big big swapmeet, im looking around, and i find this guy selling a complete 67,68,69 camaro front end, also the same as i think 67-71 nova, so i start looking it over and i find that the arms that bolt to the spindal for the tie rods to connect to are different, so they used the ones off the skylark, which are not the same, there was my problem, the camaro ones drop down, the skylarks dont, causing the tie rods to set up wards causing all my bumpsteer,so i look all day trying to find the right set, to no avail, so im freaking out this week trying to find these before my appointment to have it aligned, well i could not find any, so i was bummed all day, well i go to the guys house and i tell him my new found knowledge, then he gets to thinking, and he remembers, hes got a set of 68 camaro spindals and drums laying on the shelf, so we swap parts, he aligns it, now it drives great, no more bumpsteer, so before you go swapping parts do some research first, but at least now i know what parts they used on what models, sorry so long
