Wheel sizing issues! Please help

On my 1979 Cutlass supreme brougham i ditched the original steels and hubcaps for 14" rally wheels, They came with Brand new BFG's for a really good deal.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM.
I mount them, make it a block and i hear something rub. Get out jack it up and take the wheel off to find that the tie rod end has knocked off my wheel weight.
I have a few mm. between the upper control arm and the rim lip as well as the tie rod when the wheels are turned.
Anyone know if they made 14x8 rallys?
I know the 14 isn't the most popular way to go but like I said,. new BFG tires for less than half the cost new. Rear tires (235/60R14 ) Front 215/60R14
Any ideas?
I was thinking spacers, but it appears I need about an inch and my exposed stud thread is 1 inch?

Rim measures 8 wide with a 4.5 backspace?

If you are determined to keep the wheels and tires, I see no alternative but to install longer studs and use spacers. This may be why you got them so cheap. The last guy may have had the same problem.

I never had a problem with rubbing, but my old wheels on my 34 were about an 3/16th of inch off the edge of my upper control arms. Weights were not a problem as the wheel used the glue on weights (not on the rim). Didn't want to grind down the control arm edge. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I had problems with another wheel so I opted to get new wheels. To correct the problem I dropped my front rim width from 7 to 6 inches and decreased my backspacing by 1/2 inch on the new wheels. Now the problem does not exist.

Since you just got this new set up wheel spacers may be your best hope. The ones on ebay, or similar, may be the best and cheapest solution.

A friend of mine has a pair of olds rally wheels, i am heading down tonight to get one and I'll bolt it up to see what that one looks like, some of the wheel shops up here do work on these rims and you would never know... we'll see how the other set fits.


UPDATE: The rim is stamped 14x7JJ and measures the same in every way to mine. Why wouldn't these fit on a stock cutlass?
Did the Broughams have any different suspension components compared to any other model of Cutlass???
