Continued to work on boxing frame today, more pictures of the progress. Nothing exciting but getting closer to finish line. My welding is improving with each day I work at it!

Some more welding, shock mounts today. First had to pound them back into shape, then grind all surfaces clean including the transaxle. Then clamped into place and welded on. Still more welding needed until they are structually strong, but took a two hour break to honor Veterans, by going to see local parade today. Really nice turnout, happy I made the time. I really appreciate all veterans for what they have done, to ensure our freedom. This list includes my Brother, and brother in law, and all my uncles on my mom's side of the family. I actually got pretty choked up as the WW2 vets, and the Vietnam vets went by.....just so sad what people had to do to protect this country.

Don't remember now, but, why'd you cut the mounts free Steve?
And just being picky but.. it's an axle, a transaxle is just like it sounds a combination transmission and drive axle. 8-)
:) axle! Cut the mounts because they were off a 68 ford econoline van just don't match the same position for the old 48. needed to move over for about 3 inches.
Finished welding on the shock mounts and installed new shocks, now everything just needs some paint! The bright blue stands out just a little :)

Ahhh...the smell of fresh paint in the morning...smells like victory!! Stay on the offensive Steve.
Not sure this has been said already or not but i head one time "you don't have to be a good welder, just a good grinder"…. but still i like a nice clean weld to start with…Quote:

have you considered just putting the fuel filter up on the engine like they used to be instead of along the frame??????????
Jerry I actually had a dream about that last night. That big old filter is bulky and a pain. an inline one would work a lot easier, and since the lines, tank and carb are all new there shouldn't be a lot of junk to worry about! Any suggestions on filters?
