Steve, I understand that you're using DOT 5 Brake Fluid in your truck once you get it back? Hopefully you have ALL new components, from MC to lines to wheel cylinders.
Yep-Dot 5-doesn't mix with water-means water vapor condenses to water--doesn't mix with the brake fluid-so the water in the system now will boil at 212f instead of 500-600 as it would as a MIXTURE or h2o and brake fluid
Yep all parts tubing cylinders etc. were changed! Complete new unused brake system from time of install! Thanks for the heads up, encase of being unaware. Fortunately I addressed this one before doing brakes!.
well new update on the house it has officially sold, escrow closes tomorrow. After a hellish move into storage and an apt, that is three stories high.................I'm feeling worn out! But the apt has a two car garage and is dog friendly so my best bud Pretzel and I are now bachelors. My new used 98 toyota tacoma 4x4 ex cab, trd automatic(not by choice) is doing well during the move, it did need a new starter and brakes all around, and I chose to get rid of the super loud muffler for something that didn't cause noise fatigue. Anyway it's doing o.k. That's about it for now, but active house search in progress with hopes to move into a home in early spring!
Good news on the move, Steve, and with moving on with life, too. Hope you can find the ideal house for a spring move - you know, the one with the 10000 sqft finished garage/shop with a bedroom/kitchen/bar mezzanine...
There's an ol' addage about "...one door closes, another opens..."........a bit trite but true. While I'm sure all this turmoil wasn't what you envisioned just keep after it and new opportunities that can be an upgrade will present. Keep a good thought for yourself...............
Thanks guys. First real nights sleep in 6 months last night headed to bed now
Hang in there and good luck with it!
Getting better every day!
Well I'm settled in the new apartment now. Spent last few weeks after house sold, fixing things. My Harley Davidson 1989 Softtail was running very poorly, requiring a carb rebuild, new sprocket seal, oil change, battery, primary fluid, transmission fluid, new rear turn signal sockets as old corroded)and new fuel ines, as California ethanol corrodes them. Also got the brakes and clutch adjusted. , Bike runs much better now, and I will actually have time to ride it, now that I don't have a house to maintain! The Toyota Tacoma 4x4 truck I bought used also got some attention, so it will be safe and reliable to run to work in bad weather. The brakes were ruined from neglect front and backs, so all new drums and rotors, with ceramic pads, stops great now. Starter solinoid was going out, so new starter too!. It will be getting an oil change soon, after I run a quart of techroline thru this tank of gas. When I bought it I had the windshield replaced, but the wiper fluid button didn't seem to work. So I added fluid to it only to see it running out of it's armor proof compartment. So anticipating either a cracked hose or tank, I ordered the parts for it online and will be taking it apart once all that stuff gets here. It has a small oil leak on the rear main seal which is all but impossible to get to, so for now I will put up with small drips(if sitting over night it one spot, little spot there in a.m.) I will attend to it if the oil level is going down, or if I need transmission work done, as the transmission will have to be separated from the truck to get to it!Any way between these two modes of transportation I'm about 2500 dollars poorer, but now all of my modes of transportation are fully functional. Next the new house quest continues, with limited properties for sale, and lots of buyers eager to out bid each other for houses not worth the asking price. So I probably will be here until spring at the earliest, unless something pops up soon! Anyway that's the update for now.
I'm glad to hear you're making progress and getting things done! Good luck on the house hunt!
Times 2. It's good to hear you've been staying busy. Hope you can get lucky and find a place with most of your wants and all your needs.
Thanks Guys. It is nice to not be in a hurry. I now have some leisure time to relax for the first time in 6 months!
