Does anyone know where to find rear disc brakes that don't cost as much as the Wilwoods for the Dana 60.
I don't feel the need to spend $550.
Please keep in mind this is not a drag car and won't be seeing 150 mph very often.

I really have not looked that close yet.
You might want to check Strange Eng--he was always a big Dana 60 supplier and even today makes a special package for the F bodies--he did have his own line of brakes as well as all the others
I do know that the bolt pattern is 5 on 4 1/4.
Mark Williams axels.
The axles are held in the housing by a locking plate.
I pulled the rear cover off and found a old Direct Connection posi unit.
Then I checked the gear ratio and found a 5:13.
I still am un-sure what the rear end is.
It say's Dana 60 on the housing.
Any one know what the difference is between the Dana 60 rear ends??
you find a brake rotor that as the 5on4 1/2 and buy the weld on gm C clamp calipers brackets if you can not find the 4 1/2 then redrill some chevys rotors cheap easy to do
There were some in big block ford 1/2 t pickups and in mopar Hemi and 440 muscle cars--yours is probably out of a mopar--measure the distance between the bolts in the bearing end that holds the axle. then you can id the pattern from Stranges cataloque
Measure the od of the axle end and the wheel register for the correct disc
Measure how far out the axle sticks( this gives info for correct disc) the brackets match your bolt pattern and caliper pattern
If there web site doesn't have the info have them send you a cataloque
Good luck
Jerry
You probably will need a porportionary valve
Pat,I have seen those kits and wondered how good they would be.Quote:

If you use a weld on bracket, remember that its got to stop you
If you mess around with brake rotors, they got to center on something
i welded a set on a drag car low 9s **)Quote:

You are right about a proportioning valve.
There is a street rod type brake guy in Colorado somewhere that usea Caddy/olds eldo/tornado calipers with parking brake gizmo don't remember name, but had a cobra here that had that setup
A mark williams or moser would maybe help also
you may want to go with the older vette master
I used the rear disc brakes off a 1985 eldrado cadallic. they were cheaper than the trans am disc brake. I made the bracket to mount the caliper to the rear end housing. easy setup, bolted a 1/4" c plate to the rear end mounted the rotor marked where i wanted the caliper. drilled the hole to mount it welded two nuts on the back of the bracket. i put 25,000 mile on it no problems.
I just bought a new Dana from Strange and they suggested Ford Explorer rear disk brakes on their rear.
Much cheaper than the Wilwood six piston I have on front of my 68 Dart.
Thanks for all the help guys.
I have never really worked with the Dana 60 rear ends.
I did find a local guy that claims he can set me up for $275 or I found a Wilwood Dealer that can get it done for about $390.
