Anyone with a 460

Hey
I'm about to put in my new alternator, and the previous Village idiot who owned it put about 100 washers in on the old one, because hr didn't have the right spacers for the braket. I can buy some tubing to fix this but need to know the lengths of the two spaces that go to the bracket. See photo below and note these are missing on my engine. Any help would be appreciated, as new brackets run 100 bones, and old ones about 40 with shipping. I'm also up for buying the spacers from anyone thanks, Steve.

Steve, I have a 460 but not the stock alternator mount. You can buy the chromed alternator tubes at most speedshops, and cut them to length. That is what I did on my T.

You could do like the "Village idiot" did, space it with washers until it is aligned correctly....Then measure for length.

I agree with Chuck that you will probably have to slip some long bolts in there and see what it takes to make the pulleys and brackets line up with everything else. My setup won't help you because I am not that far along with my engine yet, and when I do I will probably just order one of the lowmount setups.

I would love to help you, but there were so many variations (power steering, non power steering, air conditioning, no a/c, some had smog pumps, etc) that you are sort of going to have to engineer yours to fit.

Best to put the belts on and get everything aligned correctly using washers, body shims, or whatever then make a spacer the proper length. so many different bracket combinations by year and equipment.....

I might buy an alternator mount down the line that is billet or stainless, but for now on the tight budget, I just want to use whats already there to get it on the road!:)

The gauges, they're the one thing I spent to much on. I saw them and had to have them :D
