Frenched Tail Lights

hey guys,
im new to this club, but have been playing with vehicles for a few years now. I have a question on Frenching Tail Lights on my 93 Silverado (I know its not a hot rod, but my $$ can only go so far for now) I have a pair of 89 Cadillac DeVille style tail lights, the long ones, that i would like to french into the existing tail light holes. I realize that they are longer and wont easily fit, not a problem. My problem is with, 1. How to french them, 2. Should I buy the bracket or is building it (including tail light filler plate) easy enough- as this is what i normally do, 3. How do i know how far to french them and how to position them, so that they dont look stupid with the lines of the bed and tailgate. thanks

So that we can get a mental image, shoot us some pictures of the area where you are going to put them as well as a picture of the light you intend on using.

Might want to look at Hagans, they make a set of Caddy looking lights with the buckets, bulbs, and lenses.

Can build it all yourself, as far as how much to french probably not much on the tailights... Some cops that actually pay attention may notice the fact that the further they are frenched, the less they are visible from angles behind the truck. On tailights, I actually prefer to do the whole project so that the lens winds up flush mounted to the surrounding surface....Helps with the visibility issue....

Some place in my gallery is a picture of the Merc in grey primer with the tailights flush mounted.
