Ford vs Lincoln motor mounts.

I was looking at Classic Performance Parts web site for the appropriate motor mounts for my truck. Their parts description states...Features bolt-in installation and comes with a black powder coat finish. Will accept 429 and 460 motors. Pads are sold separately. Can be cut to fit 28"; and extended to fit 38" wide frame rail spacing. Will not fit Lincoln or Mercury engines. Not designed to work with IFS front end.
What is different about a mercury or lincoln and how can you tell which one you have? Mine just says 460 on the block!
I don't want to drop a ton of money in this if it won't fit!

Look at the mount pads and motor mounts on your block.... If it's the single stud type engine mount, you should be ok..... The numbers on your block will I D it as Ford, Lincoln, or Merc....

Looks like a plain old Ford part # to me.... If the motor mounts are the 1 stud on the bottom type, that crossmember should work great.

V tands for Lincoln, D=197_ and 1 =1971, so it is a 1971 lincoln, which makes me wonder what the difference in motor mounts is all about. Should I sell this engine and get a Ford block?:eek:

No idea what the difference in the blocks would be.... I'd check with the parts store, betcha the big Lincoln and big Galaxie from '71 have the same mount pattern for the engine mounts on the block.... Just a matter of determining which one is the single bolt mount that fits the crossmember....

hopefully i explained it right..... Trying to see the blocks are the same, but the mounts from Ford to Lincoln may be different....Make sense??????

No, don't sell it---the Lincoln-Mercury reference is probably for the 383-410-430 series of engines used from 1958 in Mercury, Edsel and Lincoln cars

The mount looks like it would only take minor mods to mount anything to including GM or Mopar stuff

Thanks guys. Looking at it from underneath it looks to be one bolt. I'm betting that the ford lincoln thing is just the bolt on mount, not the engine block, which is easily solved by buying ford brackets. I'm waiting tell my friend gets here later in the week to muscle out the engine. I just bolted it back to gether to get it inside until thursday. I'm now leaning heavily towards a rebuild as my vacation plans for the summer pooped out! But that leaves me 1900.00 bucks to put towards the engine. I'm willing to bet someone will rebuild it with parts I buy for close to that. Then I have no worries when the beast goes back in.:D
Also found a tranny place that will tear it down, inspect the parts and make a list of what needs to be replaced. If I don't want to do it then, they will put it back together. I also saw some high performance c6 trannys on Summits sight that are pretty resonable. All in all it will work in the end, and if customization is needed, a friend who is our old car mechanic will do what needs to be done to make it fit right.
