had to tell someone!!
well, after 5 years of blood & tears & way more $$$$ than I had planned on spending, having 2 kids (5&2 years old) & doing 99% of the car myself!! my 39 chevy coupe just rolled out of the paint booth!!!!!! it is looks awsome!!!! my buddy, who has a body shop let me use his shop to paint my car. we blocked & reblocked the car for 2 weeks everynite to get it perfect, ( after seeing it painted), I am glad we killed ourselves blocking it. I will get some pics posted as soon as I get it all together. The color is bluish-purple met.(laser blue) with about twice as much pearl mixed in than it probably needed. but man it really "pops" in the sunlight on all the curves. I won't have the interior done before the nats. in louisville, BUT I will be there in MY coupe!!!!! everything should be finished on the car except the interior as I said. I can't want to get in it , crank it over, turn on the a/c , & put the hammer down on the bbc 454 !!! it will be a 180 mile trip one way on it's maiden voyage. It will be my 5 year old daughter & I for the weekend at the nats.! she has "helped" me build the car since she was big enough to walk, she has informed me that the car is hers & that she still wants to call the car "the grey car" ; (it has been in grey primer before painting). I guess I can live with that!!. she loves going to car shows & is really pumped that her & daddy will be driving to the nats. in "her" hotrod!
I know the post is probably silly to most you guys, but I am happy to finally get to start enjoying all the work I have put into the car.

Silly? Nope, this is the kind of stuff we live for. :D :D Me personally, I put a new bolt in and I post a dozen pictures.
How about some pictures of you car? We'd all love to see it. Sounds really cool. But you are going to get some heat from a certain little lady for it not being the gray car any more. :)
Enjoy your ride to the Nats.

Family projects are the best. Congrats! I too would love to see some photos.

Congrats, absolutely nothing silly about being excited when lots of hours of hard work pay off with the result you want!!!!
-
Well, you better start collecting parts for the next one because in about eleven more years she'll be old enough to drive and she's going to want "her" car!
Silly? Not at all; other people can now see what you've seen in your head all along... Show us some pics when you can.:)

Thats why most of us do this! For that final payoff, and the memories you made with your kids! Not only do you now get to enjoy driving a car you and your kid built, you shaped your daughters life and outlook on life forever by letting her help. You two have a blast at the nats!

Congrats! We'd be disappointed if you weren't jumping with joy. Looking forward to seeing some pics. Pretty neat to see a 5-year old getting a kick out of the rods already. You'll have a fun bunch of years with her.

Congratulations on getting you 39 finished, well nearly finished. Sounds like to me you have a young rodding partner for life. That's two great things coming to gether at the same time. Lucky guy!!! I haven't been to Lou'ville for several years and envy you for being able to get to it this year with your fresh ride. Wish I live 3 hours away instead of the 12 that I do.:(
Enjoy the car and don't let anything wipe the smile off you face. You have earned it.:D

HELL yes Its silly for a grown man to make such a deal over a hunk a scrap iron,I wish my 'JUNK PILE" was ready for the paint booth. This forum is for us fools who would rather be in a garage than a bar. phil the geezer

Not silly at all, especially since your daughter was part of the build. She will have that as one of her first memories and it will always be a special one for you. Have a wonderful and safe trip to the Nationals and enjoy all the comments folks will surely heap on you.
