1967 Nova/67-69 Camaro rearend the same?
I've got a 1967 nova and I'm trying to find out if a 67-69 camaro rearend is the same width? Anybody do the swap?
I'm just trying to upgrade the stock 8.2 to a 8.5...Thanks...

I think the Camaro rear end is about an inch wider on either side. I put a Camaro 12 bolt into my 63 Nova. You can adjust tire fit with the right wheel offset. Not sure if the springs measure the same or not, the unit I had was put into a 65 Nova before I got it so I am not sure if the perches were moved.
Here's a helpful chart: http://www.carnut.com/specs/frear.html

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Thanks that is pretty helpful. I think the only problem with putting a camaro rearend in the nova is maybe the lack of wheels made? I am actually about to buy wheels for it and it needs a 4.25" backspacing in it to be perfectly in the middle of the wheelwell(with the stock rearend). If I go a camaro rearend it will be a 5.25" backspacing...but add a leafspring relocator kit which is what I plan to do, so add another 1.25" to that to make it in the middle of the wheelwell...Does any rim manufacter make a 6.5" backspacing? Or is that a custom deal?Last edited by 69elko; 07-28-2008 at 12:11 AM.

What size wheel and tire are you planning?

Well, whatever I can fit under it. 245 is about all I can fit stock. I figure with the relocator kit I might be able to run a 275/9" tire or so. So I'll go with a 15X8" rim.

You will have to do some shopping or make some calls to the wheel makers whose style you like and see what they have. I think a lot of the newer cars like the Corvettes have quite a bit of back space.
