I will be needing to bore a hole in my gas tank for the sending unit. Is there a way to keep the metal bits from falling into the tank, or if not how can I get them out after drilling?

A vacuum cleaner with a small nozzle works good, followed by lots of rinsing and blow drying before installing the sending unit
upside down and let gravity do it
I would do that except it is bolted down pretty tight. I had hoped to do this without taking it out.Quote:

Some grease one the outer and inner edge of the hole saw will catch a lot of it.
I had to enlarge the sending unit hole in mine to a bigger sender. After the hole was drilled I used a wad of masking tape wrapped stickey side out around the end of a coathanger. Worked great.
