SB Chev fuel pump
Hi, I know very little about automotive mechanics, but ive replaced the original 6 cylinder out of my 55 chev, with a GM crate engine. I think its what is referred to as their "HO" 350/350.
My question is I have no idea what sort of fuel pump I should be using for this engine.
Im not sure what size the carburettor is either...... I know its a Holley, but the place that sold me the engine suggested it was a 750, but all the press I've seen from the GM website says its gonna be a 600.
Either way, I need to know is the flow of the pump related to the size of the engiune/carb combination, and whether a carburetted car can use a electric pump, or it has to be mechanical...
Thanks :

With a 600 carb you can go electrical or mechanical. If it is indeed a 750 I would lean towards a electric pump. Summit Racing.com is a good site to see carb to pump ratio's. Good to hear you're runnin a 350

55, stamped on the carb, usually up on the air horn area, should be a number, e.g. 4410 or maybe 4410-1, or something similar, doesn't have to start with a 4. These are Holley's model number. Then go to their site, www.holley.com, and you can look up the specs on the carb. Or start at their site and get a feel for their numbers then go to the carb looking for a familiar number.
