Kitz I agree. Plus the long block was pressure tested and run with oil At the facility that built it so it's pretty oily right now. He said each cylinder tested to 200 lbs!

For the Ford that I've had to prime before initial startup (302, Y Blocks) I use a 1/4 inch drive, 1/4 inch deep socket (with extension) on the oil pump rod (down the distributor hole). Attach it to my 1/2 drill or I have done it by hand. You don't need any fancy tool, just remember to use tape in the socket to extension coupling.
