Some pix of our latest work in and out of the shop!

Been really blessed with work seeing as the economy is in such a mess... Thats a great thing to happen to a small shop! We've done some basic stuff and some pretty cool custom stuff lately! The wagon belongs to Gary Wills of Pioneer Pinstriping. He wanted it make it stand out...I think we accomplised that! 1960 Chevy truck is the disassemble that we just finished friday. Its going to the media blaster on tuesday. Owner wanted candy red and white pearl, but its gonna be a driver, so we're gonna use HOK Candy red base instead. It'll be more forgiving in the long run. Just wanted to post up some new pix of whats going on in East Tennessee!

The wagon looks well executed....as I've come to expect. I especially like the hood. The truck is even better. You got that "simulated patina" dead on! :-)~

forgive me, but what is it you are doing to make the paint more forgiving in the long run? no pearl?

We're still gonna use the pearl white, but doing away with the "3 part" candy job (base, color, clear) and going with a "candy base" as they call it. It is a metallic that gives a very close look to candy, but can be repaired/matched easier if needed. Since he plans to drive it on a regular basis during nice weather, we steered him away from a true candy job. HOTROD, You noticed we nailed it, huh! It was hard to make it look like a 20 year old, peeling paintjob! :-)

If your really nice to me, I'll let you paint my new Bronco II creation and I won't even charge you nothing---just cuz I'm feeling benevolent today!!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

Hey Dave, you're right, that is the first offer I've gotten like that "TODAY". I DO get them often though!!!:LOL: I have an ad on Craigslist for our shop and it seems to be an attraction for "Sponsorships"! I get these guys with, one example, a 94 Jeep Cherokee that he wants painted black with the Marines logo on the hood and doors, and he'd like it done in the next 2 weeks so he can drive it to his brothers Marine graduation form bootcamp. "Lots of people will see it and I'll tell them all who did it, so you should get lots of work from it" is the resounding comment from most of them. I just "calmly" explain that we don't do sponsorships and most places won't either unless the person has a brand new vehicle and is usually a returning builder/champion of the show circuit... Get tired of the people wanting "FREEBIES" all the time...:rolleyes:

I know what you mean, man!!!!! I have a nice set of race car scales with turn plates, etc. I get many sponsorship offers every spring from all the local circle burners.... Heck, I only charge $50.00 to put a car on my scales, tie up my little garage for at least half a day, and help make a bunch of changes on the suspension.... Can't even tell you how many tell me that it's way too much money and I should do it for free!!!! Probably one more reason why I do very, very little business for the general public anymore....and offer my condolances to the shops that still have to deal with these folks on a daily basis and remain friendly!!!!!! Seems as I get older, my "social skills" are deteriorating. Next step, unlisted phone number!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

How about this one " I have 2-3-4 what ever the number of cars for you to do if you can get me a great deal on this first one " !!!!

This is some phenomenal work – I really like the wagon as it make a nice statement without being garish or opulent. It underscores the fact that this can be a profession that embraces skills in so many different areas and any car (well, just about any car) can be made to look great and be an attention grabber in a crowd. I’m always motivated to work on my project (63 Nova SS) when I see the results other are producing. The Nova is getting close to paint. I had the rear seat done locally by a small shop (working out of the garage) and he did an outstanding job. He put my seat on his website as it seems that my seat had been a “mouse house”. We just got my son’s 71 Chevy C10 Fleetside back from paint shop and I am very pleased. It’s pretty plain Jane, but it’s a project that we work together (in between his college education, sports, girlfriend, etc) and I cherish anything that gives me quality time with my son! The paint he chose is black with some gold flake. I’ll get some pictures up on this one soon.

As the small shop and sponsorship I “feel your pain.” I have a consulting firm that is still considered a small business. We do design and engineering for telecommunications and technology with most of our clients being in the public sector. We have also made some “not-so-subtle” inferences to having some wonderful Christian folks on our staff. On a regular basis I’m asked to donate money or perhaps take a “pro bono” engagement for the furtherance of “cause [fill in the blank]". It’s always a good cause, but people need to realize that if we don’t charge for our services, soon there will be no services.

Thanks again for the great pictures and encouragement Donny! Tennessee is blessed to have a man of your caliber and a shop like yours. I wish you were a bit closer to Oregon!

Love those old wagons, had a 1956 ford two door ranch wagon with the big thunderbird engine and 411 rear end it really was quick wish I still had it (along with a lot of others I had but cant keep em all):) ..Francis
