Rookie needs suspension help.
I have a 28 Hupmobile Century6, model A which Im trying to build into a streetable car. I have a 89 Lincoln town car that I plan on using the motor/trans from. Question is, budget being the biggest issue. What do I need to do for the front suspension:
Use a mustangII? Ive got one tacked onto the frame, (cut out from a pinto) but I had to widen it about 4" to clear the frame rails. I need to buy tubular upper a arms to clear the fenders should I decide to proceed, and from what Ive seen it looks like 2 grand to finish up with new parts in this manner, and Im really not sure about the way it looks.
Use the orginal straight axle? I have the original straight axle and leaf springs. Should I use these? Axle looks good, but I dont know about using 80 yr old leafs. Should I use a hairpin set up or what?
Use the lincoln frame with its setup and modify it to fit the hups body on? Is this practical or not?
Thanks in advance for your time.
