you can buy a liner actuators motor from mcmaster-carr they use them on boat hatchs
Old hospital beds have some cool screw mechanisms.
Try autolock. They have 12 volt linear actuators in different lengths and strengths, with built in electric cut-off switches. Not cheap but excellent quality. I have one on the side tilt bed cover on my roadster pickup.---Brian

Or you could go to or call your local auto salvage, cars are filled with different types of actuators in them. And save $$$$$.

Heck, Speedway Motors has them. Not hard to find. I would imagine most of the Hot Rod supply and parts places have them.....
