Traction Bars & Degree Wedges
Installed new leafsprings in Nova with Competition traction bars with J-Bolts. My snubber 1 1/2'' away from spring eye. Car is back on ground when measued distance for snubber. Going to use 4* wedge correct problem. Anyone else have to do this.

Back in the late 70's, one of the magazines ran an article on installing traction bars with J-bolts. They had to length the bars so the snubber would come in contact with the spring eye. It also needed wedges to adjust the air gap between the snubber and the spring eye. In high hp situations with traction, if the snubber only contacted the spring, it would sometimes bend the spring. I like the Cal-Tracs bars better. It uses the front spring eye and the spring pad for contact points and is adjustable. My buddy's blown pro-street '67 Nova was in Car Craft on an article about Cal-Tracs bars.
My grandfather, mom's side, drove a 39 Plymouth coupe when I was about 4 or 5 and I thought it was pretty cool and I loved the tail fins on the 49 Cadillac. I drew cars when I was in the 5th and 6th...
