Rad Overflow Tank
I was just wondering, I have a coolant overflow tank from Speedway:

Does this have to be mounted with the top even with my Rad cap or can it be a few inches lower? I was thinking if it's too low it will siphon the rad down.
Thanks,

Mine is probably 4 inches below my radiator and its has never siphoned into the tank.

Thanks, just what I needed to hear considering it's already mounted.

Mine is just a little lower and never had a problem. I don't think you will have a problem. They really don't siphon (suck) from the radiator - the fluid that is in them is from the overflow pressure. When the pressure is vented, no more goes into the unit. It actually siphons the coolant out of the unit into the radiator when everything cools down.

the radiator cap is spring loaded, and opens under pressure. it cannot siphon out, because as soon as the pressure reduces, the spring closes.

Take note of the catch tank on stock cars.
They're almost always lower than the top of the radiator.
The tanks don't have to be mounted close to the radiator.
Got room on the firewall?
Works fine.

Thanks again, I already have it mounted to my rad shroud and it fit so nicely I figured I must have done something wrong.
Gotta try and get my first start-up going here!!!

I got a mini Heinekin keg, ought to make a killer catch can!
