Transmission Weights

Hey Guys; I was wondering if anyone has a list of trany weights.
I'm gonna be running a smallblock C - 6 trany.
But I have run the FMX trany before and that was a great trany,
plus that one you could push it to about 40mph and start the car.
Everyone keeps telling me to run the C - 4 for the weight, but I
broke many built C - 4's behind my mexican style boss 302.
Since the 351 Cleveland is more powerful then that, I don't want
the same problems of old. I'm really already set up to run the C - 6
so I was just curious about the weights. Thanks Kurt

Thanks Denny; I'm guessing now, but looks like about 40lbs differance.
Not sure weather the small block and big block C - 6's weigh the same,
I'm using the small block. But that does fell about right.

I'm looking at the same decision on my 64 Fairlane..If all I cared about was a few 10ths on the strip I'd do the C4 but I like the Idea of never having to change the transmission again plus I have the C6 already. I'm glad to see there's no more weight difference than that, I always figured it was about 100 pounds...

I thought about a 4 speed top loader But after buying my mustang GTand only putting 3000 miles on it in two years. I decided I don't care for shifting all the time. like when I was a kid. After driving a gas tanker for the last 20 years, Knee surgery and having my knees drained all the time. Two times just this month.
And we know that the automatic's are faster anyway, Don't we!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one looking at the weight though and like Daffey,
I like the idea of never having to change the trany.

So Denny what did you do to it?
I've got a buddy that rebuilds them but is not in to high performance.
I've done some valve body work and shift kits but that it.
Do you use differant bands and stuff or what?

I copied the info down, I'm gonna put a trans brake in too.
This is a street strip car so a trany cooler is also going in.
Back when I was racing Big Block Dodges I used transpak
shift kits but I herd they are no good in Ford trannies.
So I'm not sure what shift kit to use for it. Kurt

There shouldn't be more than a pound or two difference since the variations are only the bellhousings..Small block...FE...385 pattern...I can only think of 3
