A metal line I hope??? I don't like any lines within 5" or 6" of the headers...though sometimes it's unavoidable....
If you can't run the line elsewhere, wrap it with header wrap or other heat isolation material to prevent percolating of the fuel in the line. I have also installed aluminum heat shields between the exhaust and fuel line with success. Make the shield from two pieces with an air gap between them.
Thanks guys; The line is metal and about 3 inches from the header. The fuel line is the stock one from 84. I wonder if I would benefit from bending a new fuel line. Would a larger id line be better? I have a 80gph mechanical pump and a holley 700 on a 355.
What size is the line? If it's a 5/16" line, going to a 3/8" or even better a 1/2" aluminum line would certainly help. Fuel starvation on the big end could be a problem with a smaller line. The extra volume certainly wouldn't hurt anything.
I went with 3/8 Od i guess maybe 5/16th id?but built
On my turbo car I put shields around the hot spots. They can be simple,I polished mine to look good.aluminum can be your friend!
You can also split some rubber hose, and slip it over the line. Put a heat shield on top of that, and you have some cool fuel!
