firebird 77 clone .here is what i made .all of the top part of this machine i built .this is the old tobin arp seat and guid machine one of the best ever made . it is still made by sunnen they redid it abit but not to much. i pick the machine up with the top part running with a 3/8 drill someone blew the gear box out of it . you can not buy part for the old gear box. but sunnen would sell something very close to what i did to this machine for about $10.000 +:eek: a good used machine sells for 15000 and up so other then it abit low on power of forming a 4 angle 2.4000 valve seats it is very good on small stuff . all shafts are running on new bearing i just built the shaft and bearing block .this was the only way i knew how to show you was to post it up here . the frequency drive said it is good for 2 hp and i think it wired for 3 phase the guy i pick this stuff up from wired it in . so i do not think it 220. many of my machines in the shop are 3 phase THANKS

OK.. WEll.. stepping the RPM down with the belts effectively increases the motor torque, but reducing the motor speed negates the mechanical advantage....

Check what voltage is feeding the inverter. If it is 115 then that is your problem.

Ultimately, I think a 2HP motor would make your life happier.

thanks for looking at it:) well it could work abit better on very big 2.400 size forming a blank valve seats . i know how to run it the way it is .so it works really good all in all just looking for a weee bit more power .yes i was thinking tq from the pulleys stepping it down would balance out the lost of power from slowing the motor down with the frequeny drive .there no way you can stall it on small stuff. the drive is not at 115 .it could be 220 or 3 phase . i can look in to this i did not wire the power cord .i may go up on the front pully size .if i could get just a wee bit more pulley up there but not sure it would help much. i do not have alot of money in the motor and drive it was new old stock a shop had sitting a round. i think $400.00 the guy installed it for to .i not bitching about that:3dSMILE: .i could have him come back over and see if he would look at it.i just was thinking if it was a trim can or a dip switch i could turn it up my self . hard to say this could be a monster never had any thing to match it to or a pig but it works good i just have to watch stalling the 3 d cutter when it stalls they some times chip making junk out of a 50.00 cutter ...THANKS

Look on the motor dataplate. The voltage the motor is rated at is PROBABLY the voltage the inverter is wired for.

Anyway, as long as the voltage is 220 or 460 then the inverter is fine for the application. If you can live with it, then I guess let it go, otherwise check into a 2 HP motor, the inverter can handle it.

motor is 3 phase i may go up on the front pulley and see what that will do .the last thing would be the motor $$ i will look at that would be nice to find one with a lower rpm. or a hi low like my mill has and run it in low . thanks
