65 Chev Long bed (8') BBC ???????????
I found a 65 Chevy 1/2T PU, 250 six, 3spd column stick. Dirt cheap w a title. NICE complete barn truck just pulled out this last spring (In the pic ,what is not shown on the truck is inside), unmolested in orig paint. BEFORE I buy it I want to check into a few things like a BBC/Auto swap, LOW budget dropping. Aftermarket springs Ok. I am told 4" back 3" front is about the limit on springs only dropping, BUT no flip kits or aftermarket spindles right now. (I spent most of what I had on the BBC and tranny)
I am looking for buget back yard swap info on the BBC ,disc brakes + later posi (Either 5 or 6 lug doesn't matter to me)
so here is what I need to know
1. The swap-mounts ??
2. Headers or manifolds ?? Which headers?? or will manifolds work?? (it is not a super HP motor)
3. Which JY discs fit ??
4. Which RE works ?? spring pad relocating is OK,I have them. I am guessing that it has coil springs in back tho
Experiences? Anyone feel like doing a paper build? I am out of usual area here.Last edited by Dgas56; 06-15-2009 at 09:05 AM.
Attended my first drag race in 1961 and hooked on cars ever since.

Swap is a bolt it, should be tons of room for the extra length of the engine.... Doing a '66 out at the shop, nice trucks for a chebbie......
As for headers, when you get yours home you'll see there's lots of room in the engine compartment, frame rails are quite wide so should be lots of room for headers.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
