I just bought a 65 pickup with a 460. The engine sound very healthy but was not able to drive do to the fact the wiring was butchered. Once home and a few starts it started to get hard to start and backfire through the carb. The flywheel went bad and I pulled motor to put a new one on. I pulled rocker pans and found bent pushrods. Pulled the heads and found the cam wiped out and the lifters beat to death. Pulled the pan and found an inch of metal filings in the bottom. Can anyone tell me what could have happened as the inside is super clean? Where do I start on rebuild as I want to make a driver with a little thump to it. Thanks to any and all for any information as I feel like just being had real good.
